First Free Wichita

Andy McLellan
Andy's bio

A few ways others have described him… The PEZ guy - (Passionate, Energetic with Zeal); “Tigger;” The traveling “minstrel” around the church with guitar in hand strumming through the halls.

.
What he does at First Free… Andy has the privilege of leading God’s people each week in musical worship. This includes coordinating Sunday morning leadership with various worship teams and band personnel, rearranging worship songs and hymns with "unique" chords, and overseeing sound and media technicians. He also leads a monthly worship planning team that adds ideas and creativity for upcoming services.

What he does when not at First Free… Andy loves going to movies with his family, practicing trombone, reading a good suspense novel, and watching his two boys play sports.

Andy's family life… Andy has been married to Maria for 20 years. They met at Grand Canyon College in Phoenix, Arizona, where they would both graduate with Music Education degrees. They have two very active boys; Andrew Christopher, 12 and Patrick Scott, 8. The McLellan’s enjoy watching old televison shows together, keeping track of their 4 dogs, 3 horses, 2 cats and a gold fish as well as playing cards, dominoes and board games.

What he did before coming to First Free... Some form of music has always been a part of Andy’s life. After graduating from college, Andy taught Elementary and Jr. High band in west Phoenix for 4 years. In 1989, he came on as part-time music staff at Trinity Bible church in Phoenix.  Two years later he became the Pastor of Worship and Music there. In 2002, the McLellans relocated to a small town in East Texas to be close to his brother and joined Main Street Baptist church staff as Music Minister. Six years later, in June, 2008, Andy moved his family north to become the Worship Pastor at First Evangelical Free in Wichita..

Things you don't know about Andy... Andy’s favorite author is John Piper, his favorite staple food is a “Hershey Bar” (we keep the company in business), and he has an identical twin brother, Ken, who still lives in East Texas with a family of nine.
