Missions Weekend, June 25-26

Missions Weekend is coming up June 25-26! Our special guest will be Pastor Brandon Redic. Brandon recently planted The Bridge Church here in Wichita. It was originally planted out of West Free, and is now located at 10th and Oliver. Brandon’s vision is for The Bridge to be multi-ethnic, and God has already worked in some amazing ways to lay the groundwork for that to happen. We’re excited to have Brandon preach on Sunday morning the 26th and participate in our Panel on Race and the Church on the 25th.

Saturday, June 25
This year’s missions seminar will be a Panel on Race and the Church. Issues of race have been in the headlines a lot these last couple of years. It’s hard to sort through everything that is going on in our culture. But what about the church? Some still say that Sunday morning is the most segregated hour of the week in America. Why is that? Is it true? Does racial prejudice exist among evangelicals? And what about the difficult topic of immigration and how It pertains to our Latino brothers and sisters? Join pastors Brandon Redic, Abdel Gonzalez, and Curt Romig at 10am in Room A5 as they discuss these topics and answer your questions. (Childcare is not available for this event.)

Sunday, June 26
On Sunday morning, Brandon will be preaching in our special missions-focused worship services. Be ready to be challenged and encouraged! Then Sunday evening, we’ll have our 5th annual “Trip Around the World” event at 5:30. The Chinese church will make a delicious Chinese meal, and we’ll have five of our basement classrooms transformed into different countries to learn about five different ministries from our missions partners! Cost for the Trip Around the World is $3 per person or $10 per family max. Space is limited so reserve your "passport" for the evening on Sunday mornings, June 14 or 21. You may also sign up by contacting Pastor Curt. (Childcare is available after the dinner through age 4 with registration by June 19.)

Many of our other local and global missions partners will be in town for the weekend as well. Be sure to stop by their tables in the Courtyard that Sunday morning!

I hope you are excited about how God will encourage us this Missions Weekend! He is working in Wichita and all across the globe. May he continue to use First Free to reach the nations with the gospel!

UPDATE: The registration deadline has passed for the Trip Around the World, but you may email Pastor Curt or call the church office to be put on a waiting list!
