1. What would you say of a person who said they loved someone (spouse or parent) but never demonstrated that in the way they interacted with them?
2. Read 1 John 2:28-29. What is the source of righteousness (or fruit) for the child of God? What does the answer to this question imply about a person who calls himself a Christian but bears no fruit?
3. Read 1 John 3:1-3. What is the hope of God's children? How is hope related to bearing fruit in holy living?
4. Read 1 John 3:4-10. How are we to distinguish the children of God from the children of the devil?
5. How do we abide in Christ? What changes do you need to make in your life to abide in him?
