- Where are you tempted by the desire to be great? Is your pride caused more by jealousy or a sense of superiority?
- Read Mark 9:33-37. The way of the cross is the way of service unto the least and last. Can you identify ways you avoid the least and the last? Can you identify ways you can serve the least and the last?
- Read Mark 9:38-42. Where are you tempted to discourage people who don’t share your narrow theological convictions?
- Read 9:43-50. What areas of pride need to be cut out of your life? How does the picture of sacrifice in these verses both challenge and encourage you?
