A Time to Judge

September 27, 2015 Preacher: Josh Black Series: 1 Corinthians: A Beautiful Mess, Part 1

Passage: 1 Corinthians 4:18– 5:13

Sermon Questions
- Where do you see evidence of tolerance being the highest value in our culture today? Do you see evidence that this value has been embraced in the church?

- Christians are called to be a light to the world. This passage addresses a case of incest, but are there other areas you think the church has stopped living “set apart” lives?

- Read Matthew 18:15-17 and Hebrews 3:12-14. Where does church discipline start and what role does every Christian have to play in this area?

- Do you find yourself more concerned with sin in the world than sin in the church?

- Judging is often not seen as loving, how do the two fit together?

- A common argument for tolerance is that some sin doesn’t affect anyone else so we shouldn’t care. How would Paul respond to that?

- What are you doing to build the kind of Christian community that loves you enough to speak up when they see unrepentant sin for the sake of God’s glory, for the sake of your soul, and for the sake of the church?
