Suits That Don't Fit

October 4, 2015 Preacher: Josh Black Series: 1 Corinthians: A Beautiful Mess, Part 1

Passage: 1 Corinthians 6:1–11

Sermon Questions
- Josh talked about “suits that don’t fit.” Have you ever seen someone acting in a way that was unfitting for their position?

- Paul is addressing conflict that escalates to the point of lawsuits. How can you grow in dealing with conflicts before they escalate? (Parents, what are you doing to teach your children how to handle conflict?)

- While we won’t eliminate conflict we can certainly grow in our ability to handle disputes biblically. What values and deeply held convictions are often at the heart of conflict that need the transforming power of the gospel? Or what truths are often forgotten in the heat of the moment and when we feel wronged that we need to be reminded of?

- Read Romans 12:2. Is there a bible verse or passage your small group could commit to memorize together that can serve to renew your mind in the area of conflict? (Ideas: James 1:19-21 or Philippians 2:1-8)

- Below are the lyrics to the last verse of the song we sang during communion. How does it connect to 1 Corinthians 6?

“And so with thankfulness and faith we rise
To respond and to remember
Our call to follow in the steps of Christ
As his body here on earth
As we share in his suffering
We proclaim Christ will come again
And we’ll join in the feast of heaven
Around the table of the King”
