Come Thou Unexpected Jesus - 2015

December 6, 2015 Preacher: Josh Black Series: Malachi: Return to Me

Passage: Malachi 2:17– 3:5

Sermon Questions
- What are some of your Advent or Christmas traditions?

- Pastor Josh said Advent was traditionally more of a time of repentance & preparation than celebration. How can you help each other prepare to celebrate Christ’s coming.

- God’s message to Israel in Malachi 3 anticipates Christ’s coming. What was the situation, how should Israel have responded, and how does it apply to us as we wait for Christ’s second coming?

- Read Malachi 3:5. Israel was treating one another unjustly and oppressing those they should have been supporting. A lack of fear of God was at the root of their sin. How do you struggle with these same sins? What do you fear instead of God?

- Read 2 Peter 3:8-18. It says God’s patience in returning is to be counted as salvation. Who can you be praying for to “reach repentance” while we wait? Are you making yourself available to be used by God in that process? Spend some time praying for your interactions with these people in the weeks leading up to Christmas.
