Sermon Questions
- Read 1 Corinthians 10:23-24. What are some examples of things that may be lawful, but not helpful, or lawful, but don’t build up? What are some questions we may ask ourselves to determine if we are being motivated by love or motivated by our freedom?
- In what ways can you put aside your own self-interests this week and seek the good of your neighbor?
- In the specific situation with food offered to idols, what is the general principle that Paul shares and what two examples does he give of how the Corinthians should adjust their behavior based on the situation? What is he wanting them to avoid?
- Do you know the unbelievers in your life well enough to know how you might need to respond in different situations so that they might move closer to Christ? Discuss what that could look like practically.
- Sometimes we’d rather have a rule than a principle, because following a principle requires more wisdom and discernment. Spend some time praying for the unbelievers in your life and ask for opportunities to share the gospel along with the wisdom to know how to live it out before them.
