Building Up the Body

June 5, 2016 Preacher: Curt Romig Series: 1 Corinthians: A Beautiful Mess, Part 2

Passage: 1 Corinthians 14:1–25

Sermon Questions
- How did Pastor Curt define the gifts of tongues and prophecy? Is that different than the way you would define them?

- Paul’s primary concern in this passage is the building up of the body. What are some ways you’ve seen the consumer-focused mindset of our culture influence the church? How can we grow in being more focused on building up others than on ourselves?

- Can you share an experience of “upbuilding and encouragement and consolation” (vs. 3)  that came from someone speaking the Word to you in a timely and applicable way?

- To speak God’s Word, we must know God’s Word. How are you doing in this area? What is one step you could take this week to grow in knowing God’s Word? Spend some time looking at Psalm 119 together and praying for an increasing desire to know and keep God’s Word.

- To speak God’s Word to one another, we must have meaningful relationship with other believers. How are you doing in this area? What are the challenges you experience to developing this kind of relationship with others?
