Redemption in Darkness

May 7, 2017 Preacher: Curt Romig Series: Judges: Deliverance in Darkness

Passage: Ruth 1:1– 4:22

Sermon Questions
- In Ruth, we see hope and redemption in a dark period of Israel’s history. What things in the world today cause you to long for hope and redemption?

- God works through the ordinary means of Boaz’s compassion and cleverness. How have you seen God work through ordinary means or how might God be calling you to use your “ordinary” skills or gifts in his plan of redemption?

- Look at Jesus’ genealogy in the first chapter of Matthew. While God raises up judges to provide temporary deliverance for Israel throughout the 300 year period of the judges, at the same time he is still working to provide a permanent deliverance. How does seeing these two plans at work side by side encourage you in how God might be working in your life today?

- As an outsider, Ruth is welcomed into the covenant community of God. How are you involved in God’s plan to welcome the outsider into his family?

- Nearly 50% of our missions budget goes to support partners working with unreached people groups. Spend some time praying for this work you are supporting through giving to First Free that is part of God’s plan to reach all the nations. (You can find a list of missions partners on our website.)
