Lucas McGarity
Middle School and Missions Pastor
Lucas loves to see people grow in their faith and understanding of God and what he has done for them! He’s been pastoring our middle school students since 2009 and more recently began leading our missions and benevolence ministries. Before joining the staff at First Free, Lucas served in student ministry at a church in Manhattan while attending Kansas State University. He graduated with a degree in secondary education social studies. He then completed a master’s degree in theological studies at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.
Lucas and his wife, Christy, have three kids, Weston, Cora, and Avelyn. He enjoys spending time with his family giving the kids airplane rides through the house. He also likes hunting for ducks, geese, doves, and turkeys. When not doing that, you can find him channeling his inner old man tinkering in the garage on a woodworking project or fixing a small engine.
What do you love about doing ministry at First Free?
“I love that fact that First Free is all about equipping people for the ministry. When I first came on staff in 2009, I was not fully equipped to do this ministry but the church and the Lord have taught me many things to lead well.”
