Sermon Questions
- Do you struggle with sleep? On average, how many hours do you sleep?
- In Joshua the “rest” in the Promised Land is a major event in redemptive history. How does the New Testament develop the idea of rest, inheritance, and land? (cf. Matt. 11:28-30; Eph. 1:11:14; Heb. 3-4; Rev. 21-22).
- Pastor Josh said that Joshua 1:8 doesn’t primarily apply to us; it was a command given specifically to Joshua, and perfectly fulfilled in Christ. Do you agree? Why or why not?
- In Joshua 1:1-9 we see that Joshua was God’s appointed leader who led Israel into the Promised Land and was loyal to God’s Law. In Joshua 1:10-18 we see the people are loyal to Joshua. Joshua is a type for Jesus. And the people show us how to respond to Jesus.
>> Like the people in Joshua 1, we’re called to be believe that Jesus is God’s Leader. Are there any areas you’re struggling to trust Jesus as Lord right now?
>> Like the people in Joshua 1, we’re called to be loyal to Jesus, to observe all that he’s commanded. Where are you struggling with obedience now?
>> Like the people in Joshua 1, we’re called to be faithful to Jesus’ commission. Where do you have opportunities to share the gospel right now? Is there anything keeping you from doing so?
